The Zambales Experience

Zambales is a province in the Central Luzon region of the Southeast Asian country, the Philippines. Nestled between the South China Sea and the Zambales Mountains, it can boast of the natural beauty of its gorgeous beaches, as well as the historic site of Mt. Pinatubo, well-known throughout the world for its catastrophic eruption in 1991.
I’ve only been to Zambales a couple of times, once when I was a baby, and the other time with friends. I didn’t really “see the sights” as a typical visitor would do, but I did see the highly recommended Potipot Island with its glorious white sands and the lush vegetation. You have to ride a banka from Uacon but the five minute trip alone is already something to look forward to. There are no resorts on the island, but you can just sit, relax and enjoy the beauty of an island getaway.
You can also see the Magsaysay Ancestral House which was the home of the Philippines’ seventh president, Ramon Magsaysay. In Botolan you can see Fort Paynawen, what used to be a garisson in Central Luzon, and the Botolan Resettlement Sites where you can interact with the Aeta families displaced by the eruption of Pinatubo. The barangay where the village is located offers a view of the volcano’s crater.
For those looking for more culture, you can visit the picturesque Casa San Miguel Center for Arts in San Antonio. A popular venue for concerts it is charmingly hidden within a mango orchard. It boasts of a beautiful terraced garden where visitors can relax, and soak in nature before enjoying arts and culture.

Thanks for putting this up. Zambales is truly a great place, quite undiscovered and unspoiled by commercialism as of now.
